When Thomas Jefferson visited Williamsburg, he longed to
return to his beloved Monticello. When you visit
Williamsburg you can stay in a bed and breakfast that
has the tranquil atmosphere and bucolic setting of Mr.
Jefferson’s favorite place. War Hill Inn’s pastoral
grounds are an oasis of peace and quiet in today’s
hectic world. A short 5 minute drive will return you to
the multitude of attractions in the Williamsburg area.
War Hill Inn is located on 32 acres. The manor house has
four accommodations set on a hill overlooking green
pastures. Our two cottages are situated in the nearby
orchard. All of the buildings are designed with guests
in mind and 18th century charm.
In
the late 1960’s the Lees purchased the farm and went about
constructing an 18th century Williamsburg reproduction home.
Lumber from the farm and antique recycled building materials
went into the Manor house. The Washington cottage, a replica of
the Bracken kitchen in Colonial Williamsburg, and the Jefferson
cottage, a replica of the Powell-Waller office in
Colonial Williamsburg, soon followed. Welcoming guests for over 20 years
to their “little piece of heaven” the Lees often hear
how War Hill greatly exceeds expectations of a bed and
breakfast. Many guests return for multiple visits. Your
visit to our area will be greatly enhanced by a stay at
War Hill Inn.
