Once you have made your reservation, your Williamsburg B&B Innkeeper will send you good
directions to your chosen
Bed and Breakfast (we
have found MapQuest to be a bit un-reliable).
Once you arrive at the Inn and are
settled in, share your touring and
dining plans with the Innkeeper and ask for advice. We can help you maximize your time in the area and see the attractions that interest you the most, without feeling harried. In the morning, you might also enjoy chatting with other guests in the dining rooms and hearing of their adventures.
Some area bed and breakfasts offer private seating for those who
prefer to dine alone.
One of the best ways to tour this area is to follow the timeline
of colonial America. We recommend you start your visit at the
Jamestown Settlement, which dates to 1607 and is America's first permanent English colony. From there, visit
Colonial Williamsburg where the town portrays the exciting and formative years leading up to the Revolution, when Williamsburg was the capital city of the prosperous and influential Virginia colony. Finally, visit
Yorktown where the American Revolution is chronicled and you can visit an 18th century farm and a Continental Army camp.
A note about Colonial Williamsburg admission tickets -- The fees collected from ticket sales
continue the education and preservation of this historic
treasure. There are
several different admission tickets and it can be confusing to know which one to choose. We recommend the 2-day Governor's
Key to the City pass for our guests who are here for just a few
days. If you are here for more nights, or think you would like
to return again within the year following your visit, then the
Freedom Pass or Independence Pass is a good value. We do
recommend many of the Colonial Williamsburg evening programs,
especially "Cry Witch". It is best to book this event prior to
your visit as it fills up quickly 800-HISTORY.
