The Tribe’s 2013 Football Season

Tribe Football

No, they’re not a football powerhouse (they’re a member of the relatively little-known Division 1 Colonial Athletic Association), but don’t tell that to the legions of Tribe football fans: as far as they’re concerned, there’s nothing else to do on any given Saturday in the fall than watch the Tribe football team play.

The 2013 fall season will be no different. If you happen to be anywhere near the College of William and Mary this fall, you owe it to yourself to check out the loving frenzy that always accompanies a home football game. If you’re not in town during a home weekend, any local tavern, pub, bar, restaurant or just about any place that has a television will be tuned in when a Tribe’s game is televised (for the August 31,  September 21 and November 9 games).

The 2013 Tribe football schedule is as follows:

* Conference Games

Head Coach Jimmye Laycock (who has been coaching Tribe football for 34 years) has taken his team to NCAA playoff berths nine times. In fact, he recently helmed the team (2010) to a tie for the CAA championship.

Homecoming this year is against James Madison, with kickoff at 3:30 p.m. If you don’t have your game tickets yet, we highly recommend purchasing them as soon as possible. The Tribe moves into 2013 following a dismal 2-9 season overall (1-7 conference), for a 9th place conference finish.

Last year’s bad season notwithstanding, you can bet Tribe fans will come out en masse to cheer on their team. Being there at Walter J. Zable Stadium at Cary Field to watch them play is an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed.
